The Society of Saint Edmund founded Saint Michael’s College in
Colchester, VT in 1904 and still maintain a presence on campus today
with several Edmundites serving as members of the teaching
community, in campus ministry, retreat work and MOVE, a signature
program that connects college students with service opportunities, such
as Edmundite Missions. In answering the call to minister to African
American communities in the 1930s, Edmundites helped establish St.
Elizabeth’s School in Selma, AL, and later St. Peter Claver School in New
Orleans. An African American Catholic school, St. Peter Claver graduates overcome great odds and consistently matriculate to New Orleans’ most selective Catholic and public schools. |

“The thing I love about being a priest is the impact I can have on people’s lives. It’s never the same thing week to week. You have to be there for people in their time of need and that’s a neat thing to do — to share not only in their joys and their accomplishments but in their times of difficulty.”
- Father Brian Cummings, SSE
Director of Edmundite Campus Ministry,
Saint Michael’s College
