The Society of Saint Edmund serves a number of Catholic parishes
in Vermont, Selma, New
Orleans and Caracas. People often remark that Edmundite Churches
“feel different” for they are welcoming communities that feel like home.
Nurturing these communities is an important part of the Edmundite
mission for our hope is to enrich the spiritual life of our parish
families and further their understanding of the Catholic faith.
Our role in pastoral ministry isn’t limited to parishes. In all of the
places you’ll find Edmundites — college campuses, food banks, inner
city schools or retreat centers — our charism calls us to be present and
involved in people’s lives in very meaningful ways. |

“Most of our people live 90 percent below
the poverty level. We live in the heart of
the city and on a Sunday morning it’s just
an electric place to be. People want to be
at Church. Nobody looks at their watch to
see what’s going on next or where they
have to go. It’s just an exciting place to be.”
— Father Michael Jacques, SSE,
Pastor, St. Peter Claver Church,
New Orleans, LA
