Father Michael Cronogue was elected Superior General of the Society of Saint Edmund on June 8, 2006, making him the 14th Superior General in the group's history.
For more than 25 years, he has worked with and led Edmundite Campus Ministry through challenging change and renewal in the 1980s, and has campaigned doggedly for social justice through his activism and teaching.

He is the founder of the Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts (M.O.V.E.) and Peace & Justice programs on the campus of Saint Michael's College, both of which employ the mission of the Society of Saint Edmund, to seek to serve as Jesus did and to make known the love of His Sacred Heart for all.
