I am not a recruiter. God does the calling. As Vocation Director for the Society of Saint Edmund, my job is to reach out to those who feel called and help them discern their vocation.

People are waiting longer to make permanent life choices, and that’s true for religious life as well. If you feel called to explore religious life, we are looking for men to help us address relevant challenges of today.

We need good men who can reach out to others and build bridges to communities by inviting others to work for peaceful solutions. We need men to help us address the problems caused by poverty and work for systemic change. We need men who place service of God and others before self-concerns. We need men who love the Church and want to heal the loneliness and isolation caused when Church members don’t reach out to one another. We need men who are willing to stand up for the young, the old, the powerless and the disabled and to show others by their actions that all life is sacred.

The legacy of the Society of Saint Edmund is a valuable response to the challenges of today and I am confident that God is calling some of you to help us bring our legacy into the 21st century.
